Cristobal Balenciaga, from a modest background in Spain, opened his first workshop in 1917 in San Sebastian. The fashion designer was then looking for a modern elegance that could contrast with the rigidity of the twentieth century. He decided to move to Paris to create his Haute Couture House. Its collections seduce and surprise thanks to new reinvented silhouette. He is nicknamed "the parisian Couture King" by his clients. Following his departure, the brand continues to seduce the fashion world season after season and imposes new trends. Balenciaga now belongs to the Kering group.
